Leeds United are juggling a lot right now. Daniel Farke’s side are fresh off a massive FA Cup quarter-final win over West Ham. It was a penalty shootout victory that booked them a semi-final date with Chelsea.

Anton Stach and Joe Rodon both picked up ankle injuries during that cup tie, which makes things tricky for the squad during this hectic run-in. The Whites have found their mojo this season, holding their own in the top flight while also chasing a trophy, and it’s clear the club’s ambition is already spilling over into summer transfer plans.

Leeds United’s interest in Tabaković

Away from the pitch, Rheinische Post, which is the local paper for Borussia Mönchengladbach, reports that Leeds United are among the clubs keeping tabs on Haris Tabaković ahead of the summer window. The 31-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international joined Gladbach on a season-long loan from TSG Hoffenheim in July 2025 and has been clinical, bagging 13 goals and three assists in 31 games.

Sport Witness first picked up on German claims of Leeds United‘s interest earlier this month, and the story has only picked up speed since. Looking at the numbers, Tabaković has been in good form. His non-penalty expected goals per 90 minutes is 0.42, putting him in the top 90th percentile of Bundesliga forwards this season, while his overall goal involvement hits 0.61 per 90. Hoffenheim want €5m for him, and Gladbach sporting director Rouven Schröder has been open about the fact that money troubles mean they can’t afford to make the move permanent. The player himself seems to have moved on from his time at Gladbach, saying he expects to head back to Hoffenheim once the season ends.

VfL Wolfsburg have reportedly already held talks, but they aren’t even sure they’ll be in the Bundesliga next year. Leeds United, on the other hand, have Premier League money to play with, and €5m is the kind of fee a club of their stature can handle pretty easily.

Would Tabaković genuinely solve Leeds United’s attacking problem?

To be honest, this feels more like a smart, low-risk signing than a massive game-changer. At 31, Tabaković has a proven eye for goal, scoring 0.48 goals per 90 minutes for a Gladbach side sitting 14th, which shows he can deliver even without a world-class supporting cast. That kind of efficiency should work well in a Farke system that relies on structured attacking buildup.

Leeds United need more competition and depth up front, and Tabaković is the right profile at a price that won’t drain the budget for other targets. The real question is his max potential.

The pace and power of the Premier League is a different beast compared to the Bundesliga, and there’s always a bit of a gamble when signing a loan player who’s performing well in a relegation scrap. Still, for €5m and with stats that actually back up the hype, this move makes a lot of sense, and Leeds would be smart to at least consider it.
