One of the bigger moves in the WNBA offseason was the New York Liberty’s signing of three-time All-Star Satou Sabally to a two-year, $1.6 million contract. The New York native was coming off yet another All-Star campaign, averaging 16.3 points and 5.9 rebounds as a member of the Phoenix Mercury.
The signing was set to be a smash hit for the Liberty, who were taken down by Sabally’s Mercury in the opening round of the playoffs, but they haven’t gotten to see their new signing take to the court yet.
Through both of the Liberty’s preseason matches, as well as their two opening matches in the regular season, Sabally has been on the bench due to a cyst.
It appears that this trend is slated to continue on Tuesday night when New York takes on the Portland Fire, for the first of two matches, as the three-time All-Star will be out due to the aforementioned cyst, as reported by the .
Satou Sabally is not playing due to a cyst that has kept her on the bench during preseason and the start of the regular season.
Satou Sabally signed a two-year contract worth $1.6 million with the New York Liberty.
Before joining the Liberty, Satou Sabally averaged 16.3 points and 5.9 rebounds during her last All-Star campaign with the Phoenix Mercury.

It’s safe to say that the New York native’s absence hasn’t hindered the Liberty, given their 2-0 start to the campaign, which in some part has been due to Breanna Stewart’s dominant start, averaging 27 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
Elsewhere on the Liberty’s injury report sits Sabrina Ionescu, who will continue to sit out as she continues to recover from a foot injury suffered in a preseason victory against the Connecticut Sun.
The Liberty and Fire face off on Tuesday night, with tip-off slated for 10:00 p.m. EST.
