Lino Mark announces return to Rutgers

Rutgers is bringing back an important piece for the future.

Freshman point guard Lino Mark announce on Monday that he would return for the 2026-27 season. He signed back with the Scarlet Knights, the program announced, and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Mark becomes the third player to return for next season joining Jamichael Davis and Gevonte Ware.

“I can’t wait to get back to playing in front of the best fans in the Nation at Jersey Mike’s Arena,” Mark said via a press release. “We traveled a lot of places last season, and there is nowhere like playing at Rutgers. I feel like I improved a lot in my freshman year and just felt like I have unfinished business right here.”

Mark began playing his best down the stretch of the season, sparking rumors about a potential transfer. Over the final 10 games of the year, Mark put up 10.8 points per game while shooting 53.2% from the field. This includes a season-high 18 points against Washington. He scored 10 or more points in seven of the final 10 games. Mark ended the regular season with 17 points, five rebounds, and five assists against UCLA.

“Lino really grew as his freshman season went on,” said head coach Steve Pikiell. “His speed, playmaking, and confidence gave us a big spark, and we’re excited to have one of the most exciting Scarlet Knights returning next season.”

Mark initially choose Rutgers out of high school over the likes of USC, Seton Hall, San Diego, West Virginia, and more. He averaged 5.9 points and 1.2 assists per game while shooting 39.6% from the field.
