The Detroit Lions have decisions to make on stars Jahmyr Gibbs and Jack Campbell.
Do they pick up fifth-year options on the talented duo? Or, does the franchise just ink long-term extensions with one or the other this offseason?
Lions general manager Brad Holmes said on Monday that the organization hasn't decided whether or not to pick up their respective fifth-year options yet.
āWe havenāt yet (exercised the options), but weāve already had discussions about both of them,ā Holmes said.
Per Spotrac, fifth-year options for Gibbs and Campbell would cost $14.293 million and $21.9 million, respectively.
It feels like a matter of time that the Lions iron down either long-term extensions or execute fifth-year options on the pair. Gibbs is a three-time Pro Bowler and Campbell just captured the Butkus Award and first-team All-Pro honors last season.
Gibbs, a 5-foot-9, 202-pound running back, has eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards each of the past two seasons, including his 1,223 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns last year. Meanwhile, Campbell racked up 176 tackles, which ranked second in the NFL last season. Campbell added five sacks in 2025 as well.
The 6-foot-5, 246-pound linebacker has 402 tackles, 10 passes defended, 8.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries in his three-year NFL career. Gibbs has run for 3,580 yards and 39 touchdowns.
What are the fifth-year options for Jahmyr Gibbs and Jack Campbell?
The fifth-year options allow the Detroit Lions to extend the contracts of Jahmyr Gibbs and Jack Campbell for an additional year, providing the team with more time to evaluate their performance.
When will the Detroit Lions decide on the fifth-year options for Gibbs and Campbell?
The Detroit Lions have not set a specific timeline for their decision on the fifth-year options for Jahmyr Gibbs and Jack Campbell, but discussions are ongoing.
What did Lions general manager Brad Holmes say about Gibbs and Campbell's contracts?
Brad Holmes stated that the organization has discussed the fifth-year options for both players but has not yet made a decision on whether to exercise them.
