LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil reassured staff via email that the season will continue as planned amid rumors of the league's potential shutdown. The next event, LIV Golf Mexico City, is set to take place at Club de Golf Chapultepec on Thursday.
After a full day of rumors of the demise of the LIV Golf league, the circuit's CEO has reportedly emailed everyone on staff to quell their fears.
Scott O'Neil, according to ESPN's Jeff Darlington as well as Front Office Sports, told LIV employees that the "season continues exactly as planned, uninterrupted and at full throttle."
LIV Golf Mexico City is the circuit's sixth event of 2026 and it's scheduled to start at Club de Golf Chapultepec on Thursday.
Internet chatter about the end of the league, by some speculation as soon as this week, caught fire late Tuesday. Wednesday saw a rise in the reporting, some of it declaring emergency meetings were being held, others determining that the Public Investment Fund of the government of Saudi Arabia was on the verge of cutting financial ties with the golf league.
O'Neil's email to staff seems to refute those reports.
