Liverpool Are Set To Rival Real Madrid For This Borussia Dortmund Defender: Good Choice For Slot?
In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Liverpool are set to rival Real Madrid for Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck. It has been revealed that the Reds have set their sights on the German centre-back ahead of a potential move for him this summer.
Schlotterbeck has enjoyed a good run of form at the German club as he has put in a run of solid performances for them on the defensive end of the field. The 26-year-old has featured in 32 matches for Dortmund this season, scoring four times and picking up two assists in all competitions.
The German talent is currently one of the best centre-backs in the Bundesliga. Hence, the Reds would do well to win the race for his services later this year.
His current contract at the German club will run out in the summer of 2031, which could make it tough for Liverpool to sign him on the cheap in the upcoming transfer window.

Schlotterbeck is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when required and is proficient at playing his way out from the back.
Standing at 1.91m, the German sensation can use his strong frame to win his fair share of aerial duels. Schlotterbeck is primarily a centre-back but can also fill in as a left-back if asked to do so. However, only time will tell whether Schlotterbeck can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Reds can manage to get him on board in the summer transfer period.
We can expect Schlotterbeck to add more bite and steel to Liverpool‘s backline. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Merseyside club in the coming years.
At 26, Schlotterbeck has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Reds to consider at the end of this campaign. However, the Merseyside giants have to give him some time to adjust to life in England before they can get the best out of him.
