Chris Paul, a longtime NBA guard and likely Hall of Famer, has joined Campbell Hall as an assistant coach after retiring from a 21-year career. He will have the opportunity to coach his son, Chris Paul II, at the school.
When Chris Paul's NBA career was starting to wind down, it became clear to many that a coaching career was likely going to be in his future.
Regarded as one of the best point guards of his generation and a likely Hall of Famer in the near future, Paul recently retired from the NBA after a long 21-year career.
He won't be stepping away from the game, though.
Paul recently told Chris Gordy that he will be joining the coaching staff at Campbell High (CA) as an assistant, getting the chance to coach his son, Chris Paul II.
The younger Paul just finished his junior season, averaging 13.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists. He currently holds offers from Northern Arizona and Cal State Northridge.
Campbell Hall finished last season with a record of 12-16.
In 21 seasons, Paul played for New Orleans, the Los Angeles Clippers, Houston, Oklahoma City, Phoenix, Golden State, and Sacramento. He finished his career having played 1,370 games, averaging 16.8 points and 9.2 assists.
This move won't be new to Paul, as he spent numerous summers alongside his AAU team, Team CP3.
