The Louisville women's basketball team lost four players to the transfer portal, including starting forward Anaya Hardy. Head coach Jeff Walz aims to replenish the roster by adding new talent from the portal while retaining three starters and a significant portion of last season's scoring production.
That included guard/forward Skylar Jones, who parted ways with the team prior to the NCAA Tournament, and starting forward Anaya Hardy. But the departures cleared space for the Cardinals to reload by adding players from the transfer portal.
While Cardinals head coach Jeff Walz has been able to master the art of developing players in an ever-changing college landscape, he's also had success with supplementing his team with veteran portal players. Last year, first-year transfers forward Laura Ziegler (Saint Joseph's), the team's leading rebounder and second-leading scorer, and guard Reyna Scott (Oklahoma) played key roles in helping the team to reach the ACC Tournament championship game for the second time in three years.
Walz and Co. will now look to the portal again to fill out a Cardinals team that returns three starters and 58.8% of its scoring production, led by Taj Roberts and Imari Berry, who averaged 11.5 and 10.9 points, respectively, as sophomores.
Here's what to know about the Cardinals' 2025-26 season and who they've added from the transfer portal:
Zam Jones, So., Guard, NC State
Jones earned a starting spot and was the third-leading scorer with 14.9 points to go along with 3.8 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game for the Wolfpack this year. The North Carolina native had six 20-point games ā one of which came against Louisville on Jan. 18 ā and one 30-point game as N.C. State's best 3-point shooter, making 36.6% of her shots (68-for-186) from long distance.
Louisville women's basketball 2025-26 record
The Cardinals used a 14-game winning streak to produce a 29-8 record for the program's second 29-win season in the last four years.
