The Diamondbacks started the season strong but have recently struggled, hovering around .500. Key injuries to pitchers like Corbin Burnes and underperformance from players such as Ketel Marte have contributed to their challenges.
Mailbag in progress. Send us your questions on the Diamondbacks
The Diamondbacks are having ⊠well, what kind of season are they having? It started off well enough, with wins in 13 of their first 21 games. But things have taken a turn in recent weeks, and the Diamondbacks are back around the .500 mark.
In some ways, this is not a surprise. They are without several key pitchers due to injuries, including ace starter Corbin Burnes and top relievers Justin Martinez and A.J. Puk. It figured the Diamondbacks might stumble at the beginning of the year as they waited to get healthy.
But several of the players everyone figured would be productive have not been, including second baseman Ketel Marte and pitchers Merrill Kelly, Ryne Nelson and Zac Gallen.
Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks just cut ties with center fielder Alek Thomas, one of the clubâs more recognizable players in recent years, and pivoted to top prospect Ryan Waldschmidt.
So maybe the Diamondbacks are going to be fine? Maybe theyâre in trouble?
We want your questions and want to know what you think.

A base for Diamondbacks fans' questions: Is this organization still on solid footing, with Marte, Corbin Carroll and Geraldo Perdomo all locked up to long-term deals and a farm system that appears to have a number of intriguing position-player prospects on the way? Or is its perennial inability to find reliable pitching too big of an issue now and for the foreseeable future?
We want to hear your thoughts on the organization. Weâll publish the top responses in a future story. You can reach me at nick.piecoro@arizonarepublic.com. Be sure to include your full name and the city in which you live.
