The New York Giants are looking forward to having Malik Nabers back on the field for the 2026 NFL season as one of the most dynamic young receivers in football.
Turns out, it took one more surgery than thought to help Nabers fully recover from injury and return.
It was known that Nabers had ACL and meniscus surgery on Oct. 28 after his season-ending injury.
On Wednesday, though, The Athletic's Dan Duggan reported that Nabers had actually undergone a second surgery during the offseason.
He had "scar tissue that was causing stiffness" in his knee, Duggan wrote.
The beat writer added that the surgery happened "multiple weeks ago" and was just a "clean up" procedure.
Duggan's report concludes by noting that the Giants still hope to have Nabers ready for Week 1.

If the Giants want to take a step forward with Jaxson Dart in his second season at QB, Nabers will be a key piece. They don't have any other players with his level of offensive talent.

As a rookie out of LSU in 2024, Nabers had 109 catches for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns.
He made it just four games into the 2025 season before his knee injury. In that span, he had 18 catches for 27 yards and two scores.
The Giants brought back Darius Slayton for another year but lost Wan'Dale Robinson to free agency and the Tennessee Titans.
New York helped replace Robinson by signing Darnell Mooney and Calvin Austin. They also drafted Malachi Fields.
Nabers is the guy who will make everything go in the receiving ranks, though. If he's on the field, life is easier for everyone else, including for Dart at QB. And so the Giants will hope all these injury woes are behind Nabers and that he can return to action on schedule.
