May 14 (UPI) -- New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers underwent a second knee surgery this off-season, a source familiar with the procedure told UPI on Thursday.
The Giants hope Nabers will be ready for Week 1 of the 2026-27 season, but no firm timeline exists for his return. New York will host the Dallas Cowboys in their season opener Sept. 13 in East Rutherford, N.J.
Nabers tore the ACL in his right knee during a Sept. 28 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. He missed the remainder of his second season.
The No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft made the Pro Bowl in his first season, when he caught 109 passes for 1,204 yards and seven scores. He totaled 18 catches for 271 yards and two scores over four appearances in 2025.
Dr. Daniel E. Cooper, a knee specialist, performed surgery Oct. 28. Nabers also underwent a full meniscus repair. His second surgery was a cleanup procedure to remove scar tissue.
The Giants owned the No. 13 offense in the NFL last season, despite injuries forcing Nabers, quarterback Jaxson Dart and running back Cam Skattebo out of their lineup throughout the season.
Wan'Dale Robinson, who led the Giants with 92 catches for 1,014 yards and scored four times last season, signed a four-year, $78 million contract with the Tennessee Titans this off-season.
Darius Slayton, off-season signees and , and , a third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, are among the top wide receivers on the Giants' roster.
