Man City set to battle Bayern Munich for Givairo Read
Manchester City are plotting to swoop for Feyenoord’s Givairo Read this summer, according to Sky Sports.
The Cityzens are looking to replace Kyle Walker and have turned to the Dutchman to fill the void.
Man City boss Pep Guardiola has been utilising Matheus Nunes in the right full-back role, but the Portuguese star will be itching to play in his natural midfield position.
Meanwhile, academy starlet Rico Lewis, who also fills in at right-back, has not covered himself in glory this season.
Besides, he recently stated that he now prefers to play in midfield rather than at right-back, forcing City to head into the market for solutions.
They are reportedly considering a move for the athletic Read, who has turned heads with his sublime performances in the Eredivisie.
In 12 league appearances this season, he has won 60 percent of his aerial and 61% of his ground duels, while providing three assists.
His long-bursting runs down the right flank have made him a superb outlet for Robin Van Persie’s side, despite their struggles this season.
The pursuit of Read might mean they have given up on signing Tino Livramento, whom they have been targeting for almost a year now.
Unfortunately for Man City, they will not have a free run at Read with Bayern Munich also tracking the Netherlands Under-21 international starlet.
Bayern, like Man City, need a right-back, with midfielder Konrad Laimer currently occupying the position. They are in the market for a specialist, and Read is at the top of their list.
The Bavarians are not renowned for backing off easily, and they will do their best to land the 19-year-old ahead of the Premier League outfit.
It remains to be seen where the young talent will end up, with both clubs looking like welcoming environments where he can thrive and develop into a world-class player.
Manchester City is interested in Givairo Read to replace Kyle Walker, who is expected to leave the club.
Givairo Read plays as a right full-back, which is the position Manchester City is looking to fill.
