Manchester United earned a hard-fought three points at home to Brentford on Monday night which puts them on the cusp of a return to the Champions League.
Michael Carrick's side either need to win one more game from now until the end of the season or hope that Bournemouth and Brighton drop points to ensure their return to Europe's premier competition.
United's last game in the Champions League was a 1-0 defeat at home to Bayern Munich in December 2023 with the team failing to get out of the group stages under Erik ten Hag.
However, much has changed since then so we take a look at which players featured in that game and which are still at Old Trafford...
André Onana – Still at Man Utd (for now)
The goalkeeper's errors were a big factor in United failing to escape their group and he has spent this season on loan at Trabzonspor in Turkey. Apparently the Cameroon international wants to return to fight for his place but United will likely try to move him on next summer with Senne Lammens an astute signing.
Diogo Dalot – Still at Man Utd
The Portuguese full-back is usually a reliable 6-to-7/10 performer for Manchester United and has had some bright moments this season and looks to have improved defensively in recent months.

Raphaël Varane – Retired
The classy French centre-back's time at United was hampered by fitness issues but when he did play he was usually a boost to the backline. Varane left the club the summer after this game and featured just once for Como before hanging up his boots in a trophy-laden career.
Harry Maguire – Still at Man Utd
The England defender had the chance to leave Old Trafford this summer with reports of a higher-paying role elsewhere. However, he instead signed an extension and has had a solid campaign once again.
Luke Shaw – Still at Man Utd
Like Varane, fitness issues have been an issue for Luke Shaw in recent seasons but he has managed to stay healthy this season, featuring in every Premier League game and perhaps helped by a lighter schedule.
Scott McTominay – Left
Who would have guessed? McTominay and Napoli are a match made in heaven and the Scottish international is enjoying life in Serie A after leaving Man Utd. Always a reliable source of goals from midfield, something the Red Devils will miss when Casemiro leaves this summer.
Sofyan Amrabat – Left
We mentioned Casemiro and he was injured for this game which meant Sofyan Amrabat played. The Moroccan joined on loan from Fiorentina but never really impressed in England.
Bruno Fernandes – Still at Man Utd
The main man for United, Bruno Fernandes is a big shout for being named the Premier League's best player this season. It would take only a very large fee for the Red Devils to want to get rid of him.
Antony – Left
It's hard to remember now but there were some bright moments in Antony's first season at Old Trafford (including a winner against Barcelona) but for his price tag, he was an underwhelming signing. Ruben Amorim wasn't keen and he moved to Real Betis on loan midway through last season before making a permanent switch.
Rasmus Højlund – Still at Man Utd (for now)
Although technically a Manchester United player, Højlund's permanent transfer to Napoli is almost certainly going to be made permanent this summer. The Dane often showed his best form for United in European games and although there is talent there he is better suited away from the Premier League.
Alejandro Garnacho – Left
Attitude problems were always an issue for Garnacho at Manchester United and it was something that Amorim had no time for and he was keen to let the Argentina international leave. A move to Chelsea hasn't worked out for the winger yet but he is still just 21.
Jonny Evans – Retired
A 40th minute replacement for the injured Maguire against Bayern, Evans' return to the club was unexpected but a successful one as he showed his class in clocking up a further 43 appearances after leaving Leicester City. Now a part of Michael Carrick's coaching staff.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Left
The full-back came on for Luke Shaw at half-time but would leave the club the following summer to return to London and join West Ham United. Always solid in one-on-one duels with defenders, Wan-Bissaka just didn't have enough going forward for the Red Devils.
Facundo Pellistri – Left
The Uruguayan never quite got going at Old Trafford and while he was quick and direct, didn't have the quality to break into the first team. The 24-year-old is now playing in Greece with Panathinaikos.
Hannibal Mejbri – Left
A huge prospect when United signed him as a youngster from AS Monaco and stood out in the youth ranks but was never able to reach the highest level. Always tenacious, Mejbri left the following summer for Burnley.
Kobbie Mainoo – Still at Man Utd
A late substitute against Bayern as United looked to snatch an equaliser. Mainoo struggled under Amorim but has shown some of his potential when playing alongside Casemiro under Carrick.
