Leeds United defeated Manchester United 2-1, marking their first Premier League win at Old Trafford in 40 years. Manager Daniel Farke expressed pride in his team's performance and emphasized the importance of maintaining composure during crucial matches.
Leeds United manager Daniel Farke speaking to Sky Sports about how he feels after the win: "Tired. Relieved. Proud of the boys. Fantastic performance. We are in the crunch time of the season and it's important to keep your nerves and stick to your plan.
"I think the first half was fantastic, we should've been higher up than 2-0, we missed many many chances. Good start to the second half. Sometimes red card can change something, I didn't have the feeling at all. We were a bit sleepy at one set piece. Of course it's more or less still Man Utd's way, it's difficult to bring it over the line as a newly-promoted side.
"I think it's the first in Premier League history, first win here for forty years. It's amazing, and of course a big step forward."
On scoring early after a Premier League drought: "Very happy for the boys. Goals are always important for the momentum in the game. It's a sign of why we should be in a much better position performance wise. We could have been way more effective with our chances.
"On the other side is a side packed with top class players, which can bring quality from the bench later in the game. If you don't bury the game, it's always something possible, especially for the home team. We have to stay humble.
"We are not perfect. We are not the finished, end product. We are on a good path, on the way to achieving something really positive this season."
Leeds United striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin speaking to Sky Sports: "It's a massive result for us. We came here to win, that's how we set up. We executed the game plan and came away with three points. We're delighted."
On Lisandro Martinez's sending off: "I don't know, I don't make the rules. I felt my hair get pulled, told the ref, he makes the decisions. Unfortunate for him, whether he's meant it or not. I hold no grudges."
On his goalline clearance: "I was just in the moment, switched on, engaged and waiting. Doing my job. Thankfully I was there to clear the ball off the line and arguably it make up for the ones that I should've put away at the other end."
On whether the result gives his team confidence: "It does. It's important we don't read too much into the external noise and continue to focus on what's in front of us.
"It's easy to come here and make history, but it doesn't matter come the end of the season when the points tallies are in. That's all we're focussed on - one game after another, making sure that we stay in the Premier League."
