The Boston Bruins will begin their chase for the Stanley Cup on Sunday night in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Buffalo Sabres.

Boston will go on the road in Game 1, and the first game of the series is pivotal, especially for the road team to try to steal home ice and take the momentum. In Game 1, the Bruins will be starting Jeremy Swayman, who was a key reason why Boston even made the playoffs.

Ahead of Game 1, Bruins head coach Marco Sturm has high praise for his goalie and said the team needs him to continue his success in the playoffs.

“I can’t talk highly about him enough,” Sturm said pregame on Sunday. “He’s been rock solid all year long. He’s been in a great spot. He’s happy at the rink, he’s happy at home. He won gold. I think if you put everything together, that’s exactly what he brings to his game and our group every night.

“He’s a big factor of why we are actually sitting here right now. I’m glad, and hopefully he can continue that.”

Swayman went 31-18-4 with a 2.71 GAA and a .908 SV% this season. In his playoff career, the Alaskan native is 9-10-0  with a 2.38 GAA and a .922 SV%.

Puck drop for Game 1 between the Sabres and Bruins is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Sunday.
