And then the following week, the two brothers from Sheffield, England, won as a team at the Zurich Classic.
Alex has gone from strength to strength since that victory secured him a PGA Tour card through 2028, finishing inside the top 10 at the Cadillac Championship and recording a fourth-place finish at the Truist Championship.
The two brothers are both in the field at the PGA Championship this week.
Matt Fitzpatrick was delighted to see Alex play so well at the Truist last week, but he’ll be hoping to get the better of his brother this week at Aronimink.
Wouldn’t it be just great if the Fitzpatrick brothers both played well at the this week and were paired together over the weekend?

“Obviously we had not really been in contention yet together,“ he said.
“I think once on the DP World Tour in Switzerland, but yeah, I would imagine it’s going to be a weird feeling when that time does come.“
Who knows, perhaps Matt and Alex will finally get the chance to compete against each other in the same group this week in Pennsylvania.
Fitzpatrick responded when asked by reporters to describe the overriding feeling he has about his brother right now.
“I think impressed more than anything,“ he said.
*“*Super proud of him for how he’s been playing and following up the win at Zurich with two brilliant, brilliant weeks, both at Doral and obviously last week as well.
*“*I think to battle back how he did yesterday after the start was really impressive, and I think he should credit himself because I think in years gone by, probably could have gotten away from him pretty quickly.
“To be in contention right to the 70th hole was a testament to how far he’s come.“
Now Alex Fitzpatrick will be looking to emulate Matt by winning a major championship. Whether this week at Aronimink will come too soon for him remains to be seen, though.
