Formula 1 fans have flocked to social media after an interview with American Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon and Red Bull drivers Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar has gone viral.
After Fallon kicked off the interaction, Verstappen said, âI love being here,â before the TV host continued: âMax Verstappen, like Ver-stopping at the store, Ver-stopping to get coffee, you know?â But it was the four-time championâs quick response that had left fans in stitches.
âVer-stopping this interview,â the Dutchman joked with a deadpan look on his face.
Fans clearly had fun in the comments. âGonna get a Max Verslappin' if he doesn't pack it in,â one fan said on Reddit, while another added: âThe sarcasm on that âI loove being hereâ lmao.â
âVerstappen should start doing The Office thing whenever he does interviews like these. Say something sarcastic and then look at the camera,â wrote someone else, and another fan commented: âWow the Verstopping nonsense was soo forced. I am feeling the 2nd hand embarrassment through the screen.â
Other comments included: âJimmy Fallon will never be ready for Max and his sarcasms. Max totally nailed it,â and âMax made a better punchline than Jimmy and he wasn't even trying.â
The interaction was part of a bigger collaboration between Fallon and Ford, with the interview with the Red Bull drivers obviously being scripted.
Fallonâs moment with the pair wasnât his only appearance during the Miami Grand Prix weekend. The 51-year-old had one of the most bizarre interactions with former F1 driver and Sky Sports analyst Martin Brundle during the grid walk ahead of the race at the Hard Rock Stadium. After he was asked for some âfunny linesâ, he proceeded to take the microphone from Brundle and bite the cover. Taken aback by the moment, Brundle responded, âDonât do that again.â
Later, after the race, Brundle took to social media to comment on the moment that had already gone viral. "In 30 years of broadcasting Iâve never wondered what a branded microphone sock tastes like. Thereâs some very funny people around,â he wrote.
Max Verstappen humorously responded to Jimmy Fallon by saying, 'Ver-stopping this interview.'
His quick-witted comeback showcased his humor, resonating with fans and prompting a flurry of reactions on social media.
Alongside Max Verstappen, Red Bull driver Isack Hadjar was also featured in the interview.
