Ashton Hardaway —Memphis basketball coach Penny Hardaway's son — will transfer to Coastal Carolina, On3 reported May 12.
The 6-foot-8 forward, a former four-star recruit, played two seasons for the Tigers (freshman and junior) with one season at Saint Mary's sandwiched in between. Most recently, at Memphis in 2025-26, Ashton Hardaway appeared in 25 games (nine starts) and averaged 5.6 points and 2.5 rebounds a game.
The California native finished second on the team in blocked shots with 18 — one behind Thierno Sylla — but his season was cut short by a calf injury that kept him sidelined for the final five games. The highest-scoring game of his collegiate career came on Jan. 21, when he dropped 18 points (in 22 minutes) in a loss at Tulsa.

Ashton Hardaway is one of five players from Memphis' 2025-26 roster to leave via transfer. Aaron Bradshaw is headed to Tennessee State, Curtis Givens III is going to Ohio State, Quante Berry is bound for Lamar and Simon Majok has signed with Nevada.
The only players returning from last season's roster are Julius Thedford and William Whorton. The Tigers have added nine Division I transfers and three incoming freshmen.
