There's only one more team that has to make a decision at the managerial position outside of the Houston Astros, and that's the New York Mets. The Philadelphia Phillies cut ties with Rob Thomson, and the Boston Red Sox decided to fire Alex Cora.

Many believe the Mets will be next, and some names are already popping up as potential replacements for Carlos Mendoza.

One of those guys is Carlos Beltran, who was once hired by the Mets but was fired before he ever coached a game due to the Astros' cheating scandal. Fast forward a few years now, and it's believed that his relationship with Steve Cohen could potentially change that.

“Carlos Beltrán: He was hired to manage the Mets after the 2019 season, and fired before spring training due to his role in the Astros’ sign-stealing scandal. But that was before Steve Cohen bought the team, and Beltrán is now firmly back in the Mets family,” Tyler Kepner of The Athletic wrote.

While Beltran seemingly has a better relationship with the Mets and things have changed since then, it'll be a bit surprising to see him get hired once again after everything went the way it did a few years ago.

However, things have changed, and it's not crazy to suggest that he might be the best name on the market for New York to consider when the time comes.
