The New York Mets have lost six straight games, including three shutouts. The offense is stagnant, and the pitching staff hasn't been great either.
Times are tough for the Mets, and the offense isn't getting insurance any time soon. Juan Soto is still out with a calf issue, and he doesn't look likely to return in the near future.
According to Jon Morosi on MLB Network, the Mets got some tough news on Soto, as the superstar isn't running at full speed, indicating his return is not imminent.
Mets get slightly worrying Juan Soto injury update
"The hope is that Soto could be comfortably back before the end of April, but he has yet to begin running at full speed," Morosi said. "Soto, because he's not running at full strength yet, we cannot say at all that his return is imminent."
While it's way too soon to panic about Soto's return from this calf issue, this update isn't what the Mets want to hear as they try to put this brutal losing skid behind them.
Soto isn't coming back for a little while, and even though a return before the end of April was a goal, there's a chance he's out into May.

Soto, the 27-year-old superstar, is not someone the Mets should rush back, especially in the middle of the second year of his massive $765 million, 15-year contract.
For now, the Mets have to be patient and hope that Soto's calf doesn't act up, and he can return as soon as possible without jeopardizing future injury.
The Mets lineup should be better than it is, with Francisco Lindor, Bo Bichette, Jorge Polanco, Marcus Semien, and Luis Robert Jr. being a good enough core to produce more than they are right now.
While Soto's return doesn't look to be imminent, there aren't any major red flags with his recovery at this moment. The jury is still out on when he'll be back, but for now, it's only a slightly worrying situation with Soto still not back to full speed.
