The defending Division IV state champion Kenton Ridge High School softball team is ranked No. 1 in Division IV in the first Ohio High School Softball Coaches Poll, which was released Monday, April 13.
The unbeaten Cougars (11-0) – who have won 44 consecutive games – received all 11 first-place votes.
They’re currently ranked No. 16 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll and No. 12 in the MaxPreps Top 25.
In Division I, defending state champion Lebanon (9-3) is tied for third with Pataskala Watkins Memorial. Three other area teams are ranked, including No. 5 Centerville (8-4), No. 6 Fairmont (10-2) and No. 7 Lakota East (10-3).
Greenville (14-1) is No. 2 in D-III.
Unbeaten Springfield Shawnee (13-0) is ranked No. 2 in D-V, while Ohio Heritage Conference member Fairbanks (11-2) is seventh and Miami East (9-4) is No. 8.
Midwest Athletic Conference member Parkway (11-0) is ranked No. 1 in D-VI, while defending state champion Tri-Village (9-3) is No. 7. West Jefferson (8-3), another OHC member, is ranked fifth.
No area teams are ranked in D-VII.
