Michigan basketballās big three are in and so is Michigan Stateās All-American point guard.
Morez Johnson Jr., Yaxel Lendeborg, Aday Mara and Jeremy Fears Jr. have all been invited to the NBA Draft Combine, a weeklong event that will take place May 10-17 in Chicago at Wintrust Arena and the Marriott Marquis.
The NBA on Friday released the list of the 73 invitees for the pre-draft showcase, which included several others with local ties like Arkansas guard Darius Acuff Jr. (Detroit Cass Tech), Wisconsin guard John Blackwell (Birmingham Brother Rice) and UConn center Tarris Reed Jr., who began his college career at Michigan.
The combine offers prospects a shot to impress NBA teams and front office personnel through athletic testing, shooting drills, interviews and scrimmages. For Johnson and Fears, the event offers an opportunity to improve their draft stock.
Johnson, an All-Big Ten selection who was named to the leagueās all-defensive team, started all 40 games for a Michigan squad that won the national title and the Big Ten regular-season championship. The 6-foot-9, 250-pounder averaged 13.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game, while shooting 65.8% on 2-pointers, 78.2% on free throws and 34.3% on 3-pointers.
The driving force of a Michigan State team that reached the Sweet 16, Fears (6-2, 190) averaged a team-best 15.2 points and a nation-leading 9.4 assists per game. He set MSUās single-season assists record with 328 dimes and was a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award as the nationās top point guard.

Johnson is viewed as a late first-round pick by numerous national outlets, with The Athletic projecting him to be selected at No. 17, ESPN at No. 20, and Bleacher Report and Yahoo! Sports at No. 24. Despite his accolades and accomplishments, Fears is at No. 61 in ESPNās draft prospect rankings and doesnāt appear in any of the aforementioned two-round mock drafts.
For Lendeborg and Mara, on the other hand, the combine is a chance for them to solidify their status as projected lottery picks. Lendeborg is pegged at No. 11 or No. 12 by Bleacher Report, ESPN, The Athletic and Yahoo! Sports, and Mara is predicted to go anywhere from No. 9 to No. 14.
Lendeborg (6-9, 240), a consensus first-team All-American and the Big Ten Player of the Year, put himself in that position as the leading scorer on a Michigan team that set a program record with 37 wins. He stuffed the stat sheet with 15.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals in 30.2 minutes per game, shot 37.2% from 3-point range, and was a versatile defender who could guard every position.
Likewise, Mara shined in his first season with the Wolverines. He averaged a career-high 12.1 points in 23.4 minutes while shooting 66.8% from the field, dished out 2.4 assists as arguably the best-passing 7-footer in the country, set a Michigan single-season record with 103 swats and anchored a defense that ranked No. 1 in the nation in defensive efficiency.
While Lendeborg is out of eligibility, Johnson, Fears and Mara all declared for the draft with remaining eligibility. The three will have until the NCAAās May 27 withdrawal deadline to remove their name from draft consideration if they decide to return to college.
Michigan point guard Elliot Cadeau and Charlotte center Anton Bonke, a transfer who committed to Michigan State, are also testing the draft waters but didnāt receive a combine invite.
The NBA Draft will be at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on June 23-24, with the first and second rounds taking place on separate days.
