Mick Foley is set to let his WWE Legends deal expire next month, and AEW has taken notice.
Multiple sources told The Takedown on SI that AEW has expressed “real” interest in working with Foley this year. The scope of any potential involvement is unknown, and it is unclear whether AEW would pursue a signing or a one-time appearance.
One source told the outlet that while they had no direct knowledge of Foley appearing at Double or Nothing, they would not be surprised if there was a push to use him on the show if a deal could get done. Double or Nothing is scheduled for Flushing, N.Y., roughly an hour from where Foley grew up on Long Island. MJF is set to put his hair on the line against Darby Allin for the AEW World Championship in the main event.

Foley announced earlier this year that he would let his WWE Legends deal expire in June, citing his opposition to WWE and TKO’s ties with the current administration. WWE Legends contracts do not bar talent from working for other companies, but they do impose restrictions on royalties, merchandising, and the use of their likeness.
The 60-year-old has not wrestled since 2012 but has remained active on the independent scene through appearances. He showed up for The Sandman’s retirement match in GCW during WrestleMania week in Las Vegas. His last WWE on-camera appearance came in 2023, when he announced qualifier candidates for the Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline. Before that, he served as Monday Night Raw general manager from 2016 to early 2017.
While there is no confirmation, sources indicate that AEW is interested in working with Foley, and he could potentially appear at Double or Nothing.
