Miguel Rojas announced he would be retiring at the end of the 2026 season. But the Los Angeles Dodgers veteran said there is one thing that could make him reconsider sticking around for another season.
“If we three-peat,” Rojas said, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

The Dodgers are the reigning back-to-back World Series champions and are looking to defend those titles this season. Los Angeles returned the majority of its roster and added stars like Kyle Tucker and Edwin Díaz over the offseason, so there is a real chance the Dodgers could win a third straight title in October.
If that is the case, Rojas wants to be there to help the Dodgers chase after a fourth consecutive championship.

“I started thinking about, ‘You know what, this is a real possibility of making a deep run and winning another championship,’” Rojas said, per Rosenthal. “And then what’s gonna happen? I can’t really go home with the opportunity to do something legendary, trying to go four in a row.”
Rojas turned 37 in February. He said he still feels like he can play multiple more seasons but he wants to be able to spend more time with his family.
“When I made this decision to retire and play for one more year, it’s not because I felt I couldn’t play. I can still play,” Rojas said. “I can prepare to go and play shortstop for 100 games. But it’s bigger than that. I’m family-oriented.”
Rojas has two children, Aaron and Amber. With his hectic baseball schedule, it is difficult for him to be able to attend events for his children like his son Aaron’s baseball tournaments.
Retiring after this season would give Rojas a chance to spend more time with his family. But if the Dodgers pull off a three-peat, the 13-season veteran could postpone retirement for another season.
