While there has not been a huge difference in their free-throw attempts, CJ McCollum and Jalen Brunson have had a bizarre contrast in terms of fouls being called on them.
This has been a competitive series between the New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks, but it seems the former's head coach is a bit puzzled by the fouls being called. He specifically pointed out the contrast between the teams' point guards.
Brunson is a tremendous player for the Knicks, and he loves getting to the line with his physical style. He might always be the smallest player on the court, but he is aggressive enough to keep drawing fouls.
However, the series against the Hawks has been peculiar because he has been bumped over and over again, but some of them are not being called for fouls. In contrast, McCollum has drawn a lot of fouls on similar bumps.

That is why Brown is questioning the officials because he feels there are similar bumps between the two guards. However, Brunson is not given the benefit of the doubt, so that has led to some frustration from the Knicks' camp.
Mike Brown criticized the officiating, noting a stark contrast in fouls called on Jalen Brunson compared to CJ McCollum.
Despite not having a significant difference in free-throw attempts, there is a notable disparity in fouls called on the two players.
Brown is confused by the inconsistent officiating, especially given Brunson's aggressive playing style as a smaller player.

"I'm still trying to figure out what's a bump and what's not a bump. You see a guy like CJ drive, and if you chest him, it's a foul. Jalen's driving, and he's getting the same bump," Brown questioned after the Knicks' Game 2 loss to the Hawks.
"He's not as light or as quick as CJ, so the speed may not be the same. But when he's going, he's getting hit, and he's getting knocked away from the bucket,"
As the Knicks continue to play at a high level against the Hawks, they will want the officiating to improve. Unfortunately, the next two games will be in Atlanta, which will be a hostile environment for the Knicks.
