Minnesota Twins' Joe Ryan Gets Big Update After Injury Scare

The Minnesota Twins are hoping to upset expectations and compete for a postseason spot this year. In order to accomplish the feat, they will need ace Joe Ryan to lead the way on the mound. However, the right-handed hurler recently suffered an injury scare during a game. He received good news on Tuesday though, via Dan Hayes.

According to Hayes, the Twins star played catch on Tuesday and is scheduled for a bullpen on Wednesday. He also had a clean MRI on Sunday.

Ryan left his start on Sunday due to elbow soreness. Anytime the word elbow is mentioned in the same sentence as a pitcher, there is reason for concern. It seems as if Ryan avoided a serious injury, though. It remains to be seen when he will return to the mound.

His bullpen on Wednesday should help the Twins develop a timeline for his return to the rotation. Minnesota will certainly proceed with caution, but it appears that Ryan may not have to miss too much time.

The 29-year-old has pitched to a 3.72 ERA so far in the 2026 MLB season. He has also struck out 40 hitters across 38.2 innings of work. While he has not dominated on the mound, Ryan has been able to give his team opportunities to win games.
