Papers: Man Utd ready to spend £150m on three midfielders this summer
Manchester United plans to invest £150m in three midfielders this summer.
The Minnesota Vikings are expected to sign a free agent to fill a significant gap at the WR3 position after losing Jalen Nailor. Despite a strong defense, the team's receiving corps lacks depth beyond their top two receivers, Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.
Interim Minnesota Vikings general manager Rob Brzezinski just spent four of the team’s top-five picks in the 2026 NFL Draft on defensive prospects. This comes after the Vikings had the seventh-best defense in points allowed last season.
Their heavy defensive emphasis, spending five of the team’s nine picks on defenders, suggests that Minnesota is content with its offense. While the team has since indicated that they didn’t intend for the top half of the draft to be so defensive-focused, the results are what they are. While the injection of talent was also much-needed, especially after the departures of Harrison Smith, Jonathan Allen, and Javon Hargrave, the Vikings do still have a fairly significant need to address on offense after losing receiver Jalen Nailor.
Recently, The Athletic‘s Vikings insider Alec Lewis even went so far as to call the team’s WR3 position a “major roster hole.”
The Vikings are top-heavy with one of the NFL’s best receiver tandems in Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. Yet, the rest of the team’s receivers have combined for three receptions, all belonging to Tai Felton, who’s set to enter his second season. That’s why Lewis predicts the Vikings to address the receiver position by signing a veteran who will compete with Felton for WR3 duties in Minnesota.

“The first major roster hole is the No. 3 wide receiver spot. Felton, who was a third-round pick in 2025, could claim that role, but that might be a tad too lofty an expectation. The Vikings brought free-agent receiver Jauan Jennings in for some exploratory sessions, and that signing remains a possibility. Other savvy, block-first receivers remain available, too.”

As noted, the Vikings recently brought former San Francisco 49ers receiver Jauan Jennings for a workout and a two-day visit. But he left the team facilities without a contract. Signing the 28-year-old remains in play.
Other potential Vikings free agent receiver targets could include Odell Beckham Jr, who previously won a Super Bowl with head coach Kevin O’Connell on the Los Angeles Rams. DeAndre Hopkins has also expressed an interest in reuniting with Kyler Murray in Minnesota too. The Vikings could also turn to the trade market to address what appears to be a sizable weakness in an offense that otherwise looks set.
