After not drafting a wide receiver in the NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings finally gave Kevin OāConnell some depth in the room.
The Minnesota Vikings knew they needed to add a wide receiver after not selecting one in the NFL Draft, and they have done just that. On Thursday night, they have agreed to terms with wide receiver Jauan Jennings on a one-year deal with a maximum value of $13 million, according to NFL Networkās Tom Pelissero.
The words āup toā ahead of the $13 million are going to be doing a lot of work here. $8 million is a more than fair price for Jennings, who is a quality WR2/3 with aspects that the Vikings donāt have.
Itās a massive addition for the Vikings to add Jennings. Their WR3 was set to be Tai Felton after left for the in free agency. If one of or get hurt, they are going to be in serious trouble.

Adding Jennings gives them a much-needed option on the outside in case one of them got injured. He is a talented player who developed nicely for the San Francisco 49ers. He was a seventh-round pick in 2020, and became a pivotal option for Brock Purdy. In 2024, he led the team in targets with 113, catching 77 passes for 975 yards and six touchdowns. Last season, Jennings had nine touchdowns on 55 catches for 643 yards.
The one thing that Jennings has that the rest of the Vikingsā wide receivers donāt have is size. He is 6-3 and 212 pounds, who can be either a big slot or an X-receiver. The 49ers used Jennings as a weapon as a blocker. While heās not quite at the level of a tight end, heās arguably the best blocker at wide receiver in the NFL. When the Vikings get into 11 personnel, itās going to be a massive win for head coach Kevin OāConnell in terms of versatility.
With the addition of Jennings, he will likely have a salary cap hit of around $8 million, but that could vary depending on contract structure. Overall, itās a fascinating signing for the Vikings, as playing the waiting game paid off.
