Los Angeles Dodgers ace Shohei Ohtani will start the game against the New York Mets as the MLB celebrates Jackie Robinson Day on Wednesday. The two-way star is holding an active streak on the mound as well as the plate.
MLB's Sarah Langs dropped a big alert ahead of the big game at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers superstar currently has the longest active on-base streak in MLB (48 games). Moreover, on the mound, Ohtani also holds the longest active streak of consecutive innings pitched without allowing an earned run. It's been 28.2 innings since Ohtani last allowed an earned run.
Though Ohtani started slow to begin the season at the plate, he has caught up lately. In 63 plate appearances so far, the left-handed slugger has hit .254 with five home runs, 10 RBIs, and 14 walks. This season, he has started two games, throwing 12 scoreless frames to go along with eight strikeouts against four walks allowed.

Shohei Ohtani's 48-game on-base streak started on August 24, 2025. After he extended the streak Tuesday night, he surpassed franchise legend and World Series co-MVP Ron Cey, who had a 47-game on-base streak.
In the all-time Dodgers list, Ohtani now stands only behind Duke Snider (1954, 58 games), Shawn Green (2000, 53) and Willie Keeler (1900-01, 50).
Previously, four days ago, Ohtani broke former slugger Ichiro Suzuki's record of 42-game on-base streak for the most among Japanese sluggers in MLB history.
