Arsenal believes key player will sign a new contract before World Cup
Arsenal believes Jurrien Timber will sign new contract before World Cup
The Cincinnati Bengals explored a trade for Maxx Crosby but ultimately decided against it. They shifted focus to sign other players during free agency instead.
It got a little lost in the fray, but there was one report around the Dexter Lawrence trade that the Cincinnati Bengals had actually, in fact, been sniffing around a trade for Maxx Crosby.
Now thereās a little more juice around that idea as the fallout settles.
The Athleticās Paul Dehner Jr. mentioned this in a recent column outlining the Lawrence trade, too: āThe Bengals werenāt new to the idea of a big splash this offseason. They were in the mix of a Maxx Crosby trade before a pivot to sign Boye Mafe, Bryan Cook and Jonathan Allen in the first wave of free agency for a combined eight years and $126 million.ā
Obviously, the Bengals no thanksād their way all the way out of a Crosby trade that checked in at a pair of first-round picks.
Of course, that Crosby trade to the Baltimore Ravens flopped. Heās sitting on the Las Vegas Raiders and unlikely to move, it seems. Former Bengals star Trey Hendrickson went and signed with the Ravens instead.
The Bengals were looking to make a significant move in the offseason and considered Crosby as part of that strategy.
After deciding against the Crosby trade, the Bengals signed Boye Mafe, Bryan Cook, and Jonathan Allen.
The proposed trade for Maxx Crosby involved a cost of two first-round picks.

The NFL is funny like that.
It might sound wild to some, but the Bengals are probably far happier with how things worked out. They instead got Lawrence, one of the NFLās best nose tackles. His interior presence should, in theory, help and accelerate the development of names like linebacker Demetirus Knight, as well as edge rushers like Myles Murphy and Shemar Stewart.
Apparently, though, the next time the big, almost unbelievable rumors about a blockbuster Bengals move come up, fans will need to take them just a hair more seriously.
