āThose girls put the ball in play hard that inning. Every ball seemed like it was hit hard, and that made a difference,ā Jackson said. ā(Our) seven errors are a lot and they seem always to be concentrated in a couple of innings. With a couple breaks, this game goes in Southernās favor.ā

āA frustrating one,ā Southern manager Amber Hill said. āAnother game where we start slow and decide late that we want to compete. (Being) undisciplined in the box is killing us. Chasing high, chasing that pitch low and in and low and out. Watching too many good pitches. Not sitting and hitting solid.ā
Burriss recorded the victory, allowing seven runs (one earned) on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings. She struck out two and walked two.
āSheās kind of always been coming in in relief, so we thought today was her opportunity to start,ā Jackson said. āAnd she pitched a very strong game. Iām proud of her.ā
