Oklahoma linebacker Owen Heinecke granted an extra year of eligibility for 2026 after court ruling.
The Carolina Panthers are projected to select USC wide receiver Makai Lemon in the 2026 draft, addressing their need for a strong receiver. This move aims to enhance the team's offensive consistency alongside Bryce Young and Tetairoa McMillan.
The Carolina Panthers' best match of the 2026 draft class may be the nation's top wideout.
FOX Sports' Rob Rang took a simple approach to his recent mock draft, hooking up each team with their "perfect fit" for the first round. Rang connects the Panthers to University of Southern California's Makai Lemon, fulfilling what he believes to be their biggest weakness at the receiver position.
He writes:
It wasnât surprising to see Bryce Young take major strides in his third NFL season with Tetairoa McMillan emerging as the teamâs unquestioned No. 1 target, earning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. But if Young, McMillan and the Panthers as a franchise are going to continue their ascent, more consistency is needed opposite T-Mac. A savvy route-runner and one of the best after-the-catch weapons in this draft due to his RB-like frame and physicality, Lemon could feast on the one-on-one opportunities heâd receive in this offense.
Lemon might pair nicely with fellow Polynesian College Football Player of the Year in McMillan, as he could bring a much-needed element of explosiveness to the Panthers offense. The 5-foot-11, 192-pounder displayed his top-end separation skills and yards-after-catch ability in 2025âwhere he amassed 79 receptions for 1,156 yards and 11 touchdowns en route to capturing the Biletnikoff Award.
Carolina, who ranked 27th in both yards per game (295.6) and points per game (18.3) this past season, hold the 19th overall selection of the draft.
