Nikola Jokic expressed frustration after the Denver Nuggets' playoff loss, suggesting that in Serbia, such performance would lead to firings. The Nuggets were eliminated by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the playoffs.
Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic wasn’t holding back after his team’s latest playoff loss.
Asked if changes need to be made after Denver lost in the first round of the NBA playoffs to the depleted Minnesota Timberwolves, Jokic said, “That’s not my decision, to be honest. Definitely if we were in Serbia, we would all get fired.”
Jokic, a native of Serbia, is an eight-time All-Star and three-time MVP, but he was frustrated with another early exit after Denver fell 110-98 to lose the series 4-2.
Minnesota is playing without injured star Anthony Edwards and role players Donte DiVincenzo, Ayo Dosunmu and Kyle Anderson.
After winning the NBA title in 2023, Jokic and the Nuggets have now lost twice in the second round (2024 and 25′) and once in the first round.
“I mean, we just lost in the first round, so I think we are far away” from competing for a championship, he said.

“I still want to be a Nugget forever,” he said.
