Nelly Korda appears on Pat McAfee Show, said key change is her shoes

The Pat McAfee Show called and Nelly Korda answered. Fresh off her 18th career victory in Mexico, Korda became the first LPGA player to appear on the popular ESPN show.

Asked if she was playing the best golf of her career, Korda told McAfee she's living her best life, and that correlates to her on-course play.

"I'm having so much fun on the golf course," said Korda, "but I think it came because last year was a really hard year for me. I didn't win at all, I came off of a year that I won seven times, and I think I'm just maturing and realizing that I really need to enjoy these moments, that it's not going to last forever."

Korda also shared her newfound love of the Packers – courtesy of her fiance – showing off her cheesehead.

"I went out to Lambeau Field," said Korda, "I think it's the greatest place in the world."

The panel spent a good deal of time talking about Korda's enviable golf swing. The world No. 1 credited childhood coach David Whelan with building her swing but also noted that her parents spent a good deal of time on her tempo.

"That is the one thing they engrained in my brain, and my dad always said "Co-ca-Co-la, Co-ca-Co-la." It was super simple, but it was the key to having a very fluid swing."

The biggest thing Korda said she changed from last year: higher shoes.

"I'm trying to actually get closer to the ground with my chest. And with that, I actually get a little bit steeper in my swing and hinge it a little faster. It's literally like the smallest of things. Golfers are crazy. I'm crazy, just to let you know."

Korda's scoring average of 68.04 is nearly a full stroke better than her nearest competitor and a full stroke better than it was after six starts in 2024, when she won five times.

A three-time winner this season, Korda has yet to finish outside the top 2 all season.
