Noah Clowney had a standout 2025-26 NBA season with the Brooklyn Nets, averaging 12.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. Despite the team's struggles, he recognized personal growth and aims to improve his handling and defensive consistency this offseason.
NEW YORK -- Brooklyn Nets forward Noah Clowney had an interesting 2025-26 NBA season as he had his best campaign since being taken with the 21st overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft out of Alabama. What made this season unique for Clowney is that Brooklyn endured another tough season that was focused on the five rookies, but he understood what his individual goals were.
"Look at your wins. Do I think I progressed this year? Maybe not as much as I wanted to, or as much as I thought I would have, but I got better at some different things, and I got more experiences," Clowney said during his exit interview on Monday. Clowney is only 21 years old, but he has already finished his third season in the NBA and he knows what he can do and what he needs to work on this offseason.
"I think I got a lot better at getting to the rim. I think my handle still can get a lot better, and that'll prevent turnovers and things of that nature offensively," Clowney said when asked what he will be focusing on this summer. "Defensively, it's always been consistency. I can do it at times, then other times I just don't. Yeah, that's really it."
Clowney had his best season since coming to the NBA as he averaged 12.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game while shooting 39.6% from the field and 32.9% from behind the three-point line. While Clowney's shooting percentages have not risen back to what they were during his rookie year, he achieved per-game career-highs in points, rebounds, and assists while doubling his free-throw attempts per game to 3.4.
Not only did Clowney shoot better at the rim and in the restricted area than he did last season, but he also drew 96 shooting fouls, showing how aggressive he was in getting to the basket this season. Clowney has a team option worth $5.4 million next season, but he is also eligible for his rookie-scale extension this summer so it will be interesting to see what he and the Nets do this summer.
