Neuer on early error in "deserved" win over Madrid and upcoming PSG test
Despite being at the centre of attention for a costly mistake in the opening seconds, Manuel Neuer didn't pay the price as Bayern Munich saw off Real Madrid 4-3 this evening.
“I actually wanted to pass the ball to Stani but I didn't hit it well. That was simply a terrible pass from me," the Bayern goalkeeper told DAZN, taking ownership of his error.
“Güler did very well [to score] with the first time shot. We also saw later with the [goal from the] free kick that he has a very good left foot,” he said of the Galacticos' Turkish star.
Regardless, Neuer felt it was "a deserved win” for the Bavarians and also cast his mind forward to their upcoming Champions League semi-final against Paris St-Germain.
“It was a big night for us players, fans and neutrals. We kept calm and stayed in the game after the goals we conceded. We waited for our chance and in the end made it 3-3 and 4-3.
“Our games in recent years [with PSG] have always been close, in the Champions League and the Club World Cup. These two games will not be any different.
“I'm looking forward to the game in Paris and then here with the support of our fans. They were amazing tonight and I hope they'll repeat it against Paris,” the 40-year-old added.
