New Day vs. Young Bucks Dream Match in AEW Shockingly Becomes a Possibility Soon
The legendary WWE run of the New Day â Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods â unexpectedly came to an end this weekend.
Over the last 12 years, the New Day has built a reputation as one of the greatest teams in WWE history. Along with Big E, Kingston, and Woods won WWE tag team gold 12 times, including a then-record 483 reign as champions. They even had massive singles success while still together when Kingston and Big E won world championships.
However, that era is officially over. According to reports from Fightful and BodySlam.net, both Kingston and Woods have âmutually decided to part ways with WWE.â That would suggest that neither manâs contract had ended, and they may have both requested their releases from the company where they became future Hall of Famers.
Over the last few years, the duo has not had the same level of relevance, and outside of a turn to the dark side and their 12th title run last year, the move by both sides makes sense. Getting released frees both up to do whatever they want outside the company, and letting them walk adds to WWEâs rumored preference to move towards a younger roster.
Following their exits, a dream match wrestling fans have wanted for many years is now a possibility: The New Day vs. The Young Bucks.
Long before AEW and when they were still in NJPW, the Bucks and New Day had public moments together over their shared love for video games. However, because they were in rival promotions, a match was never close to happening outside of rumors of the Bucks joining WWE in recent years.
While reports have suggested Tony Khan now prefers not to sign former WWE stars, it would be surprising if they are not brought in by AEW. Bringing in a former WWE champion and one of the greatest tag teams of all time so they can promote a massive tag dream match seems too good for diehard wrestling fan Khan to resist.
