A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles is a key player in trade rumors as the NFL offseason progresses, with the New England Patriots frequently mentioned as a potential destination. The upcoming 2026 NFL Draft is intensifying trade market discussions.
As the NFL offseason progresses, teams are beginning offseason workouts and making last-minute free agency signings. In just over a week, all 32 franchises will take part in the 2026 NFL Draft.
The trade market has emerged as one of the biggest storylines of the offseason. Multiple players have not only been rumored to be on the trade block, but have also been linked to potential landing spots.
Among them, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown has generated the most buzz since the end of the season. One team, in particular, has surfaced repeatedly in speculation: the New England Patriots.
The defending AFC champions are led by Brownâs former head coach, Mike Vrabel. Brown and Vrabel worked together from 2019 to 2021 with the Tennessee Titans.
Vrabel, of course, served as Brownâs head coach in Tennessee. Now, the two have become the most speculated reunion in the NFL.
New England Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf recently spoke with NFL Network. His interview did little to quiet the growing trade speculation.
âAs far as players on other teams, again gonna keep the door open to anything that we think may improve our roster,â Wolf told NFL Networkâs Cameron Wolfe. âWhether thatâs with [A.J. Brown] or other players.â
If there were ever an opportunity to temper expectations, Wolf had it during that interview. Instead, his comments seem to have intensified the momentum surrounding a potential trade.
At one point, Brownâs next destination appeared to have a mid-March deadline. However, on March 13, his bonuses kicked in, making his contract more difficult to move.
Now, any potential trade will likely have to wait until after June 1. This would allow the Eagles to spread his cap hit across the 2026 and 2027 seasons.
For now, Brown will remain with the Eagles through the 2026 NFL Draft. The question remains: will the Patriots bring Brown in to reunite with Vrabel in June?
