A second trial involving the medical team of Argentina football great Diego Maradona began on Tuesday, five and a half years after his death.
Seven doctors and carers appeared in court in San Isidro north of Buenos Aires.
The proceedings are expected to last for months. Two hearing days per week have initially been scheduled and a total of around 90 witnesses are to be heard.
Prosecutors accuse Maradona's personal doctor Leopoldo Luque, his psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov and a psychologist, another doctor, the medical coordinator of the health insurer and two carers of manslaughter. All defendants reject the allegations.
If convicted, they face prison sentences of up to 25 years. A separate trial is being held against another nurse.
Maradona died of a heart attack on November 25, 2020 at the age of 60 in a private residential complex. A few weeks earlier he had undergone brain surgery.
Investigators believe that serious mistakes were made in the at-home care of the 1986 World Cup winner.
The case had to be restarted after a first trial was declared null and void in May last year after 21 days. The proceedings were halted after one judge on the three-member panel was suspended over her involvement in an unauthorized documentary film about the trial.
