The more that changes for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the more that apparently stays the same. One NFL analyst composed offseason needs for all 32 teams following the 2026 NFL Draft, and atop the Steelers' list ā you guessed it ā were answers at the quarterback position.
According to Kevin Patra of NFL.com, the Steelers' offseason checklist is as follows: find clarity at quarterback amid the Aaron Rodgers waiting game, address the offensive line, and acquire some defensive depth pieces.
"The assumption is that Aaron Rodgers will return, but until he signs on the dotted line, itās all projection," Patra wrote. "If the 42-year-old does indeed come back, the next question is how the backup situation shakes out. Mason Rudolph remains on the roster. The Steelers were talking up Will Howard earlier this offseason, but used a third-round pick on Drew Allar. Regardless of Rodgersā situation, itās a fascinating room in Pittsburgh moving forward.
"Max Iheanachor brings potential to start at tackle, but is a raw prospect who could be asked to step in with Broderick Jones undergoing neck surgery. The Steelers could also flip to the left side. Pittsburgh didnāt add to its inside linebacker crew in the draft and could look for some depth right up the gut of an aging D."
The Steelers need to find clarity at quarterback, improve their offensive line, and acquire defensive depth.
Mason Rudolph is currently on the roster, but the team is also evaluating Will Howard and rookie Drew Allar.
Aaron Rodgers' return is uncertain, and until he signs, the Steelers' quarterback plans remain speculative.

The Steelers' offensive line, specifically the left guard position, is a major area of concern. But the defensive depth is arguably a strength of the team.
Patra's analysis was right on the money when it comes to Pittsburgh's quarterback room, however, as it's clear the situation is murkier than previously believed after the Steelers decided to tender Rodgers earlier this week.
