The New England Patriots lost Stefon Diggs this offseason and signed Romeo Doubs, but they did not add any receivers through the draft.
The reason many believe the Patriots did not add a wide receiver in the draft is that they are going to trade for A.J. Brown. Last month, Adam Schefter reported that the Patriots are likely to trade for Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles. On Monday, Schefter appeared on "The Pat McAfee Show" to speak on Brown and share what the Patriots might be giving up.
"I think AJ Brown knows where his future is headed at this moment, and it will be a matter of the Patriots and the Eagles getting together to basically process the trade, finalize the trade, and make sure it happens....," Schefter said on Monday. "I still think it is on track. I still think it is going to happen. I still think it’s likely to involve a future 1, likely a 2028 first-round draft pick.”

The Patriots have the luxury of having a quarterback on a rookie deal, and if things go as planned, their first-round pick in 2028 will be a late first-round pick. The team is trying to go all in for a championship, and adding Brown is a move that would certainly help them win a Super Bowl.
