NFL legend Lawrence Taylor has been discharged from the hospital after being admitted on April 20 for a stomach-related issue.
Attorney Mark Eiglarsh said in an email to The Associated Press on Tuesday, May 5, that Taylor, 67, is being discharged from Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey and will be returning to his home in Florida.
“He is grateful to now be on the road to recovery and hopes to be back on the golf course soon,” Eiglarsh said, adding, “Mr. Taylor would also like to sincerely thank everyone for the outpouring of love, support and prayers."

Eiglarsh continued, "Knowing that so many people were thinking of him and praying for his recovery gave him strength and helped carry him through a very challenging time.”
Lawrence Taylor was hospitalized for a stomach-related issue.
He was admitted to Morristown Medical Center on April 20.
His attorney stated that Taylor is grateful to be recovering and hopes to return to the golf course soon.

When Taylor was first admitted to the hospital on April 20, Eiglarsh said there was no set discharge date for the former NFL star, who began showing "signs of improvement" one week after being put under medical observation.
At the time, Eiglarsh, who was authorized to share updates with the public on Taylor's behalf, said, "Lawrence asks that I convey his sincere gratitude to everyone who has been thinking of him and keeping him in their prayers during this challenging time."

Taylor played at the University of North Carolina before he was drafted by the New York Giants with the second overall pick in 1981. He went on to become an NFL legend, spending his entire 13-season career with the Giants and winning two Super Bowls. He helped the Giants defeat the Denver Broncos in 1987 — and was named NFL MVP that season — and the Buffalo Bills in 1991.
He was named Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1981 and went on to win Defensive Player of the Year in 1982 and 1986. He was selected to the All-Pro team eight times and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, in 1999.
