The NFL and Netflix just keep getting cozier and cozier.
Back in 2024, Netflix and the NFL agreed to a three-year deal that allowed the streaming platform to broadcast Christmas Day games. That cost Netflix $75 million per game.
Now, Netflix and the NFL are expected to expand their relationship even more.
According to Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports, Netflix and the NFL are nearing a deal that would allow the streaming giant to air the NFL Honors ceremony in 2027.
Glasspiegel adds that it’s “likely that Netflix would be the exclusive broadcaster for the event.”
In the past, the NFL has broadcast the show on NFL Network and whichever network was set to broadcast the Super Bowl, which has been NBC in recent years.
Along with getting the NFL Honors show, Netflix is also rumored to be getting two more games on top of its Christmas Day contests.
This is just the latest example of Netflix making its way into the live sports world.
The streaming platform has also aired Major League Baseball, boxing and MMA events over the years.

The NFL Honors ceremony is held each year during the week before the Super Bowl and sees all of the league’s major awards presented.
A celebrity hosts the show and awards such as the league’s Most Valuable Player and Coach of the Year, among many others, are given.
In 2026, actor Jon Hamm hosted the show, which took place in San Francisco, the site of the Super Bowl.

While nobody is going to be upset about the NFL Honors ceremony being moved to Netflix because it’s doubtful all that many people watch it, the NFL’s move to more and more streaming platforms has been a point of contention with fans.
With the league broadcasting games on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and others, fans are having to pay out more and more subscription costs to watch every game.
President Donald Trump even expressed frustration with the situation.
“[The NFL is] making a lot of money. They could make a little bit less,” Trump said to Sharyl Attkisson of Full Measure News. “You have people that live for Sunday… and then all of a sudden, they’re gonna have to pay $1,000 a game. It’s crazy. So, I’m not happy about it.”
X user Alex Groberman calculated how much it would cost to watch every single game for the 2026 season and it came in around $938.
That is just an insane amount of money.
Unfortunately, we wouldn’t hold our breath for the NFL to change course because it is making money hand over first from these streaming platforms.
