CBS Sports NFL writer Bryan DeArdo published an article explaining why every team should be optimistic this season, highlighting the Patriots' offensive improvement as a key reason.
"The Patriots made it to the Super Bowl last year, but did so in spite of the 47 sacks a shaky offensive line allowed upon Drake Maye. Maye also ate a whopping 21 sacks in the postseason," DeArdo wrote on Sunday.
"While they hope Will Campbell rebounds after a rough 2025 season, the Patriots aren't taking any chances there as they traded to draft fellow offensive tackle Caleb Lomu with the 28th pick. In free agency, New England signed former first-round pick Alijah Vera-Tucker to a three-year deal."

Despite the numerous offensive additions the Patriots made this offseason, they still might consider trading for players like Eagles receiver A.J. Brown, which could happen before the offseason ends.
"New England also helped Maye by acquiring former Packers wideout Romeo Doubs. The Patriots are also expected to acquire Eagles Pro Bowl receiver A.J. Brown after June 1," DeArdo added.
If the Patriots can secure Brown, they will definitely be the team to beat in the AFC this season and could make a return to the Super Bowl for a second straight year.
