The Denver Nuggets should begin exploring potential offseason trades after the Minnesota Timberwolves ended their season on Thursday.
The Nuggets havenât sniffed the NBA Finals since going the distance in 2023, signaling that thereâs a clear disconnect thatâs preventing the franchise from trending upward.
While unlikely, CBS Sportsâ Sam Quinn floated the idea of the Nuggets swapping Aaron Gordon for a 6-foot-10 former Los Angeles Lakers superstar and NBA champion.
âIf there's a major move here, it's probably some sort of Hail Mary,â Quinn wrote. âAre things bad enough in Houston's locker room that the (Houston) Rockets would consider something like (Aaron) Gordon, (Christian) Braun or (Cameron) Johnson and No. 26 for Kevin Durant?â

âMaybe the same package could swipe Anthony Davis? None of this seems especially likely. If there's a big name coming to Denver, it's someone old, someone injured, someone overpaid, or someone scaring off richer suitors through some other means.â
Trading for Davis wouldnât solve the Nuggetsâ problems going forward. The Kentucky productâs 5.5-year stint with the Lakers was objectively a success.
In addition to winning a championship with Los Angeles in 2020, Davis proved that he could be a game-changing two-way frontcourt stud in a major NBA market. However, Davisâ recurring injury woes made shipping him to the Dallas Mavericks for Luka Doncic last February a no-brainer move.
Davisâ health issues continued with the Mavericks, as persistent setbacks limited him to 29 games with his new club. Dallas ended the Davis experiment before this yearâs trade deadline, trading him, along with Jaden Hardy, DâAngelo Russell, and Dante Exum, to the Washington Wizards for Khris Middleton, Marvin Bagley, AJ Johnson, and draft capital.
The Nuggets should undoubtedly entertain the idea of trading Gordon, but landing Davis in a deal centered on the former No. 4 overall pick shouldnât be on the table.
