Alongside Stobbe's comments, Geissblog reports that Köln are not dependent on selling their star player this summer.
El Mala still has a contract with Effzeh until 2030 and said contract does not contain a release clause, which is why Stobbe maintains:
“He has a long-term contract. We'd be crazy to let such a great player leave prematurely,” the club chief acknowledged.
The door still seems to be slightly ajar for the Bundesliga club, though Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea are both pursuing a transfer.
