OFA’s boys lacrosse and golf teams both fell to top-notch NAC rivals in Thursday’s action.
The Blue Devil laxmen were controlled by Massena 15-3 and the golfers were defeated by Potsdam 208-238 and Tupper Lake 224-238 on one of the gems of the Adirondack courses, Theodora in Old Forge.
In another NAC lacrosse game, Saranac Lake - Lake Placid outscored Malone 11-10 in overtime. In other golf matchups, Canton downed Clifton-Fine 232-282 and Salmon river downed Madrid-Waddington 236-262
Massena 15 - OFA 3: Drew Smutz directed a dominating Raider offensive effort scoring four goals with six assists and Tristan General scored four goals with two assists. Karenhisen Johnson netted a three-goal hat trick.
Brody Barrett scored twice for OFA and Brandon Irvine tallied one goal with one assist.
Other Massena scoring came from: Rawennakaien Silver (1 goal), Drystan Cole (2 goals, 2 assists), Hunter Smith (1 goal) and Colden Benedict (0-1).
Keegan Stowell made four saves for Massena and OFA keeper Jackson Thornhill finished with 14 stops.
SL-LP 11 -Malone 10: Lukas Miemis fifth goal of the night carried the Red Storm past the Huskies who were sparked by four goals from Kai Massaro and three from Blake Holthas. Jake Reynolds, Ethan Vincent and Drew Matott each netted single goals.
“I am very proud of our boys. They played their hearts out and played some really good lacrosse. It was a heartbreaker at the end after we took a penalty,” said Malone Coach Chris Yaw. “But I couldn’t be more proud of the effort.”
Cooper Lovely and Ian VanWagner shot the best rounds of the day at 37 and 39 leading Potsdam to wins over OFA and Tupper Lake at Theodora. Michael Saber tallied a 43 and Adan Draper and Parker Livernois came in a 44 and 45.
Aiden Churco and Graedy Ellen led TL at 41 and Wyatt Trudeau carded a 42. Grady Pharoah led OFA with a 45 and Blake Morrill and Mason Maroney both came in at 47. Gavin Moran finished with a 49 and Quintin Murphy added a 54.
SR 236 - M-W 262: Tresten Wylie and Tehotenian Herne posted rounds of 41 and 44 to anchor Salmon River’s victory. Hayden Murphy and Murphy Burke led M-W at 48 and 49.
Canton 232- C-F 282: In challenging scoring conditions Dan Richardson led Canton with a 42 followed by Jackson Zebdeee at 45, Dan O’Neil at 46 and Cole Lawrence at 49. Carter Brown led C-F with a 46.
