After 17 years at Bayern Munich, Kathleen KrĂŒger is leaving the German champions to take over as Hamburger SV's board member for sport.
HSV confirmed the arrival of the current FC Bayern head of organisation and infrastructure on Tuesday afternoon. The 40-year-old will officially take up her new role on July 1.
KrĂŒger will succeed Stefan Kuntz, who left his role as board member for sport at the start of January.
âWith Kathleen KrĂŒger, HSV gains a highly distinguished personality who has worked for many years at FC Bayern Munich at the highest international level. Over 17 years, she has gained experience in the often emotionally charged environment of a top club, helped shape processes, and demonstrated exceptional organisational and leadership skills,â said HSV supervisory board chairman Michael PapenfuĂ.
âShe combines sporting expertise, strategic thinking, and strong communication skills, and will now take overall responsibility for HSVâs sporting department. Together with board member Eric Huwer, she is expected to play a key role in shaping the clubâs strategic development.â
KrĂŒger, a former player for Bayern Munichâs womenâs team, said of her appointment:
âI am very pleased with the trust placed in me. It is a true privilege to be able to play a decisive role in shaping Hamburger SV, one of the biggest names in German football, in the sporting area in the future. I have followed the clubâs positive development in recent years with great attention and deep appreciation for what has been achieved recently.
âI am therefore all the more excited to continue this path together with Eric Huwer (HSVâs chief financial officer), all those responsible, staff, and the teams in menâs and womenâs football as well as youth development, and to actively help shape the clubâs future.â
