OG Anunoby of the New York Knicks suffered a right leg injury during Game 2 against the Philadelphia 76ers. NBA insider Brian Windhorst suggests he could miss a significant amount of time, pending MRI results.
The health of OG Anunoby has risen to the top of New York Knicks fans' minds.
New York's lockdown defender and second-leading scorer this postseason went down with a right leg injury late in Game 2 against the Philadelphia 76ers. It's unclear what exactly happened to Anunoby, but he began limping after a hard cut toward the rim. Anunoby appeared to be in serious pain yet finished the possession before exiting.
Jesse Morse, a sports physician with a large social media following, believes there's a "good chance" Anunoby suffered a right hamstring strain. Depending on the severity, a hamstring strain would sideline Anunoby anywhere from 1-2 games to 6-8 weeks, Morse posted on X.
NBA insider Brian Windhorst is bracing Knicks fans for the worst. In a Thursday appearance on ESPN's Get Up, Windhorst said Anunoby would likely get an MRI and could be out indefinitely depending on the results.
“Maybe it’ll all turn out OK, we’re not going to make any assumptions," Windhorst said. “But there’s a possibility that the Knicks may not have him for a while.”
The Knicks are up 2-0 in their second-round playoff series. They can't take their foot off the gas, however, if history is any indication. Anunoby injured his hamstring against the Indiana Pacers during Round 2 in 2024, and New York wound up losing the series in seven after taking a 2-0 lead.

Depending on the MRI results, Anunoby could be out indefinitely, with estimates ranging from 1-2 games to as much as 6-8 weeks.
Brian Windhorst indicated that Anunoby would likely undergo an MRI and warned Knicks fans that he could be out for an extended period.
