**4-star defensive line prospect trims top schools to five, keeps OSU in the mix** It’s become a near-daily occurrence at this point — Ohio State popping up in another top group for one of the nation’s best prospects. Thursday was no different, as four-star defensive lineman Karlos May made his latest cut, and sure enough, Larry Johnson and the Buckeyes are right in the thick of it. Out of Birmingham (AL), May checks in at 6-foot-4, 305 pounds and already looks the part of a high-level interior presence. The 247Sports Composite tabs him as the in the 2027 class, and with more than 30 offers to his name, it’s no surprise his recruitment is stacked. Trimming things down to five, May is still considering Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State, and Ole Miss. For Ohio State, this is exactly where you want to be — firmly in the mix for a priority trench target with national appeal. Johnson continues to show he can go toe-to-toe with anyone on the recruiting trail, and May is the type of player the Buckeyes would absolutely take in this cycle. Whether this one ultimately swings Ohio State’s way or not remains to be seen, but the bigger picture is clear: the Buckeyes are consistently putting themselves in position with elite defensive line talent. And as long as that trend holds, the wins will come.

**Quick Hits** Staying on the theme of top groups, Ohio State kept its foot in the door out west as well on Thursday. Four-star wide receiver Blake Wong (California) trimmed his recruitment down to five schools, and the Buckeyes once again find themselves in the mix. Ranked as the No. 304 player nationally and 38th best receiver in the 2027 class per the 247Sports Composite, Wong is sorting through a final group that includes BYU, Ohio State, Oregon, UCLA, and Utah. It’s a strong West Coast-heavy list, making this one a bit more of a geographic battle, but Ohio State’s ability to stay involved here says plenty. The Buckeyes have made a habit of going national at the receiver position, and Brian Hartline’s track record continues to carry weight regardless of distance. Whether this one gains real traction or not, being firmly in Wong’s top group is another example of Ohio State casting a wide net — and connecting more often than not.
